Spice Princess Merges Indian Cuisine With a Western Flair

Jars of spicesIndian-American fusion cooking show premieres December 12th on www.spice-princess.com

Showing Western audiences that the core principles of Indian cuisine can be applied to any meal, Dureyshevar’s “Spice Princess”  which can be viewed starting December 12th at www.spice-princess.com takes viewers to India in a new way.

Host Dureyshevar was inspired as a child by the family kitchens.  Like many Indians, raised on strong flavors and intense spices, Dureyshevar found typical American food somewhat bland and Americanized Indian food unrecognizable from the incredible dishes she remembered from home. By accentuating standard American dishes like meatloaf, pork chops, baby back ribs and mashed potatoes with an Indian flair, Dureyshevar found a means to excite her palate and create something novel.

By day a film producer, Dureyshever saw the potential for her unique approach to cooking to prove entertaining for an audience. Thus, her cooking program “Spice Princess” was born.

Every episode Dureyshevar and a different guest not so familiar with traditional Indian cuisine will take viewers on a journey with a dish they may think they know, only to turn it on its head with an Indian twist.

A new webisode will air every month at www.spice-princess.com. On the website viewers can also find Dureyshevar’s blog and recipes for the dishes they’ve seen. The first season of the show focuses on spiced-up vegetarian salads and side options to complement typical main courses (for example, cole slaw becomes spiced cabbage slaw).

Offering something for adventurous eaters of all cultural backgrounds, Dureyshevar’s “Spice Princess” hopes to bring some spice into your life starting December 12th.
