Guacamole Recipe with an Indian Twist


  • 2 Avocados
  • 1 clove Garlic or to taste
  • 1 Chili (Serrano, Habanero or Thai Chili) or to taste
  • 1 heaped tbsp. of chopped Cilantro
  • 1 heaped tbsp. of chopped Onion
  • ¼ tsp. fresh or dried Oregano
  • 1 Lemon
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp. oil
  • ½ tsp. Mustard seeds
  • 7 Curry leaves (optional)


  • Peel and pit the Avocados
  • Crush the Garlic
  • Chop the Chili into very small pieces(use kitchen scissors for this)
  • Chop the Onions very fine
  • Chop the Cilantro
  • Add Garlic, Chili, Onion and Oregano to the Avocados
  • Add Salt
  • Squeeze the lemon juice into the Avocados
  • Mash with a fork until there are no big lumps
  • Heat the Oil in a small pan
  • Add Mustard seeds
  • Add the Curry leaves
  • When the Mustard seeds start to crackle, remove pan from fire and add to the
  • Avocados
  • Stir in the Mustard seeds and Curry leaves in the Guacamole
  • Serve with Chips or Vegetables, like Baby Carrots or Cucumber wedges
