Tomato Chutney

Tomato Chutney Recipe

This is a very versatile Chutney, can be had with scrambled eggs. A Spicy side for grilled chicken. Tastes great as side for some Lentils and pita bread or rice!


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Tomatoes diced
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 Small Onion diced
  • 1 Garlic Clove
  • 2 Dried whole Red Chili
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 6 to 7 Curry Leaves
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp Chili Powder (or to taste)
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  • Heat oil
  • Add the dried chili
  • Add Cumin and Mustard Seeds
  • Add Curry Leaves
  • Add Onion
  • Let this sputter for a few minutes, till Chili Curry leaves start to brown
  • Add Tomatoes
  • Add the Garlic
  • Add Turmeric and Chili powder
  • Add Salt
  • Add 1/2 cup Water
  • Cook till tomatoes are completely done
